Drives Upgrade for Rolling mill Stands at GERDAU GSN Mill in Monroe, USA

AIC North America team will complete the entire revamping of the drives for Rolling mill stands 7 and 8 at the GERDAU Rolling mill located in Monroe (Michigan, USA).

The scope of supply includes the engineering, design, manufacturing, internal testing, supply, delivery, installation documentation and commissioning of new drives for the rolling mill stands, including the possibility to integrate these drives in a future safety lockout station and will be interfaced with the existing Rolling Mill control system.

In fact, all AC drives panels for stands RB7 and RB8 with Siemens components (n.2 SLM 1400 kW and n.4 S120 MM 1200 kW) will be engineered to be managed in future by a safety lockout station. AIC will also provide the upgrade of existing SIEMENS PLC software to allow the integration of the new drives into the existing automation system, including safety circuits.
Diagnostic for new drives will be added to the existing HMI system. In addition, the AIC team will fit the configuration of the existing IBA system at the site to read diagnostics from the newly installed drives.

This intervention represents the first order for a Gerdau GSN plant. The cooperation with GERDAU group worldwide has been going on for years, certifying a good bond and win-win partnership for both parties.
