PLC Software Engineer

The role requires advanced skills in industrial automation and control systems, focusing on steel processes. Responsibilities include commissioning of complex systems, optimisation of PLC software, diagnosis and rapid troubleshooting.

RESPONSABILITIES:

Understanding of Industrial Automation and Control Systems

  • Thorough knowledge of industrial automation principles and control systems used in steel processes, including sensors, actuators and control systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation components and safety practices to ensure a safe and secure working environment.

PLC and Software Programming Skills

  • Proven experience in the use of PLC technologies and in-depth knowledge of programming software such as Siemens and Allen-Bradley.
  • Skilled in PLC programming for standard applications, with expertise in creating efficient, optimised and scalable software.

Message and Software Optimisation

  • Ability to commission complex systems, understanding and implementing software functions in steelmaking environments.
  • Accuracy and clarity in writing PLC code, with the ability to optimise and modify existing software to improve performance and resolve bugs.

Diagnostics and Troubleshooting

  • Proven ability to quickly identify and resolve faults in PLCs and related devices.
  • Proficiency in analysing diagnostic data and using debugging tools to identify root causes of faults and implement preventative solutions.

Personal Characteristics

  • Problem-solving oriented with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively on software prepared by others, optimising and improving its functionality.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation or related field.
  • Proven experience in PLC software programming, preferably in the industrial automation sector and, in particular, in the steel industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of the main PLC programming languages, such as ladder logic, structured text and function block diagram.
  • Familiarity with the main PLC brands and models used in industrial automation, such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, etc.
  • Ability to interpret and understand project requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure in challenging industrial environments.
  • Willingness to travel to support installation and commissioning of systems at customer sites.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
