Whether vertical, horizontal, or a combination of both, the brand-new mechatronics station is able to perform automatic trimming and sampling of finished coiled products' head and tail ends, with no human intervention. Designed to be installed in any existing mill floor, without excavation or pouring of new foundations.

HORIZONTAL CONFIGURATION


  • Follow the natural circular shape of the coiled wire
  • Find the end of the coiled wire
  • Active measurement along the length to the coiled wire
  • Find the exact position along the coiled wire loop to make the cut
  • Make an accurate cut at the exact position


VERTICAL CONFIGURATION

  • Immediate trimming & sample after exiting from the reform station

STRUCTURE

TrimBot’s all-electrical station combines both mechatronics technology and industrial robotics, including proprietary mechanical components, 3D vision systems, a high level of automation and artificial intelligence.

MECHATRONIC MACHINE

whose design is inspired by the tying machines studied and offered by our ATS Mechatronics unit


3D Vision Systems

take a snapshot of the wire loops and makes a selection based on an advanced image analysis algorithm of which one of these wires is to be picked


ROBOTIC ARM

moves to collect the selected wire and place the loop segment into the pinch roll of the ring processing turret

NEW RING PROCESSING TURRET


  • Identifies, measures, cuts and separates the trimmed material from the rest of the coil, regardless of how it is oriented
  • It guarantees a Dynamic Trim-Cut at the exact intended location for each coil, adjusting the length of the trimmed wire based on actual rolling conditions, for each coil
  • The process is also extremely repeatable thanks to the controlled environment
  • Performs real-time measurements on wire surfaces & cross-section shape.
