Successful commissioning at CMC Steel California, USA.

Automazioni Industriali Capitanio completed the commissioning in the rolling mill at CMC Steel California in Rancho Cucamonga (CA), USA. The scope of supply included the replacement of the drives for Shear 1 and Stand 5-6 using ABB DCS800. Also, the upgrade of the existing automation & control system was performed in order to properly include the interfaces with the new ABB DC Drives. The panel is listed according to UL Electrical Code.

Since 2013, the Rancho Cucamonga plant has been collaborating with AIC on various projects. This commissioning once again confirms the perfect harmony of working together. As a result, all obsolete systems included in the scope of supply and present at site were replaced. The upgrade allows to reduce Opex.

Moreover, Raymond Terry - Improvement Facilitator of the Rolling Mill - mentioned that: “I have been very impressed with the drive panels engineered and built by AIC for the Rolling Mill. The panels are very clean and well organized. I cannot complain about anything. They perform very well and have not caused any delays. I have not seen this level of support from anyone else before. It is a real pleasure to work with the team from AIC.”

The commissioning was performed from 22 to 25 February 2020.
